Romans 12:14-15 

"Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn."

We should have connection with people in all circumstances, but never stoop down to someone's level if they're filled with hate. Come to conversations with love and good intentions in your heart.
